Nominations Invited for Bruno Lima Award
Nominations are now being invited for the APA Bruno Lima Award. This award recognizes individual contributions of district branch members to the care and understanding of disaster victims. The contributions may have been in designing a master response plan, providing direct service delivery in times of disaster, or in disaster consultation, education, or research.
An associated goal of this award is to promote visibility for APA members’ activities within communities, at the national level, and within APA.
All district branches are invited to submit nominations. They must include a letter summarizing the nominee’s contributions, a copy of the nominee’s resume or curriculum vitae, and any other supporting documents.
The nomination letter should be signed by the district branch president and include a description of the selection process, a maximum of a one-page description of the activities for which the individual is being nominated, and a description of the disaster events.
The nominee’s C.V., at a minimum, should include the nominee’s name, address, education, organizational membership, awards/honors, and other contributions to local/national psychiatric care, education, and research.
Additional supporting documentation of the nominee’s provision of service and the nominee’s contributions to increased understanding of psychiatric responses to disaster should be included, if available. Documentation can be letters of recommendation from community leaders, APA members, other physicians, and media reports.
Nominations should be sent immediately to Alison Bondurant, APA, 1000 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 1825, MS#1 2038, Arlington, Va. 22209-3901. ▪
