Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.41.12.0011

APA Assembly members have chosen Jeffrey Akaka, M.D. (right), of Honolulu to be the Assembly's next speaker-elect. Akaka just completed a term as Assembly recorder.

Akaka's opponent was Philip Margolis, M.D., a representative of the Michigan Psychiatric Society.

Ronald Burd, M.D., of Fargo, N.D., the Area 4 representative to the Assembly, bested Sheila Judge, M.D., in the contest to succeed Akaka as recorder. Judge is a representative of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society.

The election was held during the May Assembly meeting in Toronto.
