Marhenke Elected

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.41.22.0011a

Jon Marhenke, M.D., is only the second psychiatrist in more than 40 years to be chosen president-elect of the Indiana State Medical Society (ISMA). As a result of the election, held during the organization's annual meeting in September, he will take over as president of the 150-year-old-society in September 2007.

Marhenke, who practices in Indianapolis, said he was overwhelmed at being chosen as the only nominee for the president-elect post in the organization of more than 8,300 members. Not having to participate in a contested election made the experience “particularly nice.”

He previously served one one-year term as ISMA assistant treasurer and three terms as treasurer. He is a past president of the Indianapolis Medical Society and continues to serve on its executive committee. He is a former representative to the APA Assembly from the Indiana Psychiatric Society.▪
