AMA Acts on Claims

Last year, the AMA and partnering medical associations received feedback from physicians and their practice staff about their experiences interacting with health insurers. Top ongoing challenges with health insurers that these physician practices identified included appeals and denials, coding rules and CPT compliance, medical necessity and/or prior authorization, and prompt payment. Physicians in many of these practices feel that they don't have time or resources to address these issues.

In response to this feedback, the AMA is implementing a new initiative as part of its “Heal the Claims Process” campaign. Each month it highlights various unfair payer practices and resources to address them. These resources will include monthly webinars on these topics and specific resources to help physician practices address them.
