Genetics Congress to Be Held in D.C.

The XIXth World Congress of Psychiatric Genetics will be held September 10 to 14 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Psychiatric genetics is the application of empirical quantitative and molecular methods to understand the genetic underpinnings of mental illness. This year's theme, "Genes to Biology," emphasizes the major challenge now facing the field: translating genetic discoveries into a better biological understanding of mental illness.

Plenary speakers include Thomas Insel, M.D., director of the National Institute of Mental Health, and Aravinda Chakravarti, Ph.D., director of the Center for Complex Disease Genomics and a professor of medicine, pediatrics, molecular biology, and genetics, and biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
