APA Provides Guidance for ECPs

APA and its Assembly Committee on ECPs (early career psychiatrists) provide resources and networking opportunities to help members who are within their first seven years after training.

Practice Management for Early Career Psychiatrists is a reference guide that addresses the various issues ECPs may face. Members can download this resource from <www.psych.org/Resources/EarlyCareerPsychiatrists.aspx>. The guide offers information in a wide range of areas, including licensing, board certification, contract negotiation, electronic billing, interacting with insurance companies, and management of patient relationships.

While the guide is written with ECPs in mind, psychiatry residents and members who have been in practice for many years will find it useful as well.
