Test Your Swinging Ability and Enjoy the View
Get outside and enjoy Hawaii during APA's 2011 annual meeting. If you are a golfer, one way to do this is to participate in the golf tournament being hosted by the American Psychiatric Foundation in conjunction with the Waipahu Aloha Club. It will be held Friday, May 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 pm.
The shotgun tournament will be played at the Waikele Country Club, which offers spectacular views of Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head. Brace yourself for competitions like hole-in-one, putting, and accurate drive contests.
The total tournament price (including the entry cost and fee for a shuttle to and from the Hilton Waikiki hotel and the course) is $175. And, for non-Honolulu folk, clubs and shoes may be rented but are subject to availability.
After you finish your round of golf on such a fabulous course, enjoy the company of your friends, colleagues, and competitors for lunch at the posttournament banquet.
The Waipahu Aloha Club is a program of the Waipahu Aloha Clubhouse. The clubhouse's mission is to offer comprehensive psychosocial rehabilitation services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness to help them improve the abilities they need for successful reintegration into the community and to increase their quality of life. The clubhouse provides a supportive and nurturing environment that enhances self-motivation, respect for self and others, and a desire to work.
The registration deadline is May 4. More information is posted on the Web sites of the Waipahu Aloha Club at <www.waipahualohaclub.org> and American Psychiatric Foundation at <www.psychfoundation.org>. There you will also find links to purchase your tickets and register online, but please note that the shuttle transportation is listed as a separate line item—so please be sure to purchase it! If you do not purchase transportation, you will be responsible for getting yourself to and from the tournament.
