APA Launches JobCentral

Abstract

In early April, APA will unveil APA JobCentral: The Career Hub for Psychiatry, a new career center designed to simplify and strengthen the employment process for mental health experts throughout North America.

APA JobCentral will allow job seekers to search for relevant positions with a variety of parameters, store multiple resumes, save jobs of interest, and create e-mail job alerts, while employers will be able to post new jobs, track activity on those postings, create detailed employer profiles, and advertise jobs across multiple platforms.

Job seekers, who may use the site at no charge, will also have the option to post resumes anonymously to a database searchable by employers, sharing more personal information with a potential employer only if they are interested in a particular opportunity. And to ease the process of setting up an employment profile, job seekers will be able to import information from a LinkedIn account.

Employers will also benefit from several options, including the opportunity to cross-promote job listings in APA print publications, e-newsletters, and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Additionally, a broader array of advertising options will allow employers to highlight their listings in a manner most likely to generate interest from appropriate candidates.

At APA’s 2012 annual meeting in May, APA JobCentral representatives will give demonstrations of the new site, post employer jobs and job-seeker resumes, and answer questions.

APA JobCentral is being developed by JobTarget, a company whose technology powers 1,300 online career centers, 1,000 of which serve associations and 250 of which serve organizations in the health care field.
