APA recognizes the importance of working collaboratively with industry in meeting the needs of the membership. In an effort to provide more opportunities for psychiatrists attending APA meetings to benefit from these relationships, APA has established programs planned and supported by industry; they are not developed or sponsored by APA. These programs, which are for APA meeting attendees only, include informational programs, receptions, meal functions, and focus groups.

Activities are designed by or on behalf of industry and are reviewed by the American Psychiatric Foundation staff. The programs, including any handounts or other materials, cannot be promotional. Informational programs developed by industry are offered after the scientific program is completed for the day and are scheduled at meeting hotels by APA. APA does not provide or permit continuing medical education credit for these programs since they are not part of the scientific program.

The schedule is still being determined. One program is currently approved for Sunday evening, May 6, “Challenges and Opportunities in the Treatment of Schizophrenia” with Stephen Stahl, M.D., Ph.D., in the Regency Ballroom at the Loews Hotel.

All informational programs are in compliance with the AMA’s Ethical Opinion on Gifts to Physicians From Industry.

The informational program schedule will be available in selected hotel lobbies during the annual meeting.
