APA is supporting National Memory Screening Day, which is being held this
year on November 18, and urges APA members to participate by publicizing the
event and performing screenings.
The screenings are free, and all results are confidential.
National Memory Screening Day is an annual initiative of the
Alzheimer's Foundation of America. In 2007 a record 2,000 sites
participated nationwide, and an estimated 40,000 people were screened.
The goal of this initiative is to raise awareness of the need for early
detection of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias and educate people
about appropriate medical treatment and social service interventions.
