"The genetic link of ubiquilin-1 to AD has been very controversial," Darren Boehning, Ph.D., an associate professor in the
Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and a coauthor of the report,
told Psychiatric News. "Our current work shows that, irrespective of genotype, ubiquilin-1 protein levels are decreased at all stages of AD progression."
