There will be 27 courses introducing new topics and new faculty. Among the new topics are pain management, cognitive-behavioral therapy, geriatric psychiatry, dual-diagnosis treatment, correctional psychiatry, and care of patients with delirium. Other new courses introduce participants to topics such as online therapy, gay relationships, managing boundaries in therapy, and infanticide. Innovative courses will showcase new technologies such as the use of PDAs and telepsychiatry; courses will teach meditation and broaden understanding of the value of yoga and herbal remedies. At the same time, APA will continue to offer courses that are past favorites. Acknowledged masters of the craft will offer participants the opportunity to refresh traditional skills in interviewing and psychotherapy. Courses will again be taught by such leaders in the field as Drs. Coffey, Karasu, Kernberg, Markowitz, Post, and Resnick.
