Linda Vukelich, executive director of the Minnesota Psychiatric Society, visits last month with Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-Minn.) in his home office. Ramstad is the lead sponsor of both the Senator Paul Wellstone Mental Health Equitable Treatment Act and the Keeping Families Together Act. He is also a cosponsor of the Mentally Ill Offender Treatment and Crime Reduction Act of 2003 and serves on the House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee. The visit is part of an ongoing program in which APA members and staff educate federal and state legislators and policymakers about mental health issues.FIG1
