The article "Suicide Barrier Sought for Golden Gate Bridge" in
the April 1 issue confirms my more than 50 years of experience. As a forensic
psychiatrist, I have evaluated hundreds of cases of violent death, suicides,
and homicides, and most of them are impulsive. It is a common misconception
that something that is predictable is inevitable. As to a suicide barrier on
the Golden Gate Bridge, it would save many lives.
