At its meeting last month in Washington, D.C., the APA Assembly endorsed a
Slate of candidates for its speaker-elect and recorder positions.
Nominated for speaker-elect are Ronald Burd, M.D., of Fargo, N.D., and
Herbert Peyser, M.D., of New York City. Burd is currently the Assembly
recorder, and Peyser is a representative of the New York County District
Branch.
The nominees to succeed Burd as recorder are Joanne Ritvo, M.D., of Denver,
who represents the Colorado Psychiatric Society, and Gary Weinstein, M.D, of
Louisville, Ky., the Assembly's Area 5 representative.
Voting will take place at the Assembly's next meeting, which will be held
in San Diego in May, just prior to the opening of APA's 2007 annual meeting.
At the end of that meeting, the current speaker-elect, Jeffrey Akaka, M.D.,
will become speaker.
