The AMA House of Delegates last month approved a report by its Council on
Medical Services calling for the establishment of an independent body to focus
on comparative effectiveness research (CER). The council's report emphasized
that the CER body should be formed around the following 11 principles:
Commented John McIntyre, M.D., "The 11 principles [were ones] we felt
were essential for an entity that is going to be effective and that is also
going to be credible." He is chair of the Section Council on Psychiatry
in the House of Delegates.
