New Orleans rolled out the red carpet as its bestowed its legendary hospitality on the 11,000 APA members and others who attended the 2010 annual meeting. During the day, attendees enjoyed a cutting-edge scientific program led by nationally recognized experts in psychiatry, featuring special tracks whose sponsors included the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the developers of DSM-5. And as evening came on and the heat dissipated, they wandered into the French Quarter to partake of some of this country's finest regional cuisine and relax as the music pouring out from nightclubs enticed them to come in and listen.
