Integrated care continues to be an exciting area of growth and opportunity for psychiatrists, and this year’s annual meeting is shaping up to be one of the best ever for preparing for new roles. We will be joining our Canadian colleagues who have a keen interest and enthusiasm for various models of integrated care (known as shared care in Canada), and many presentations will bring together experts from these two countries to compare our successes and challenges. This year’s Integrated Care Track covers basic skills for consulting psychiatrists, models for training residents, emerging research in the area of improving the health status of the seriously mentally ill population, solutions for merging cultures, comparing Canadian and U.S. models, and much, much more.
From courses, presidential symposia, workshops, advances in series, innovative programs, posters, and more, the varying approaches to integrating psychiatry and medicine will contribute to fulfilling APA President Paul Summergrad, M.D.’s, meeting theme of “Integrating Body and Mind, Heart and Soul. “
