Members of the APA Assembly have chosen Illinois psychiatrist Daniel Anzia, M.D., to be the group’s new speaker-elect. Anzia just completed a one-year term as the Assembly’s recorder. Prior to his tenure as recorder, he spent eight years as the Area 4 representative on the Assembly Executive Committee. He outpolled Robert Roca, M.D., of Baltimore, a representative from the Maryland Psychiatric Society.
With this election, held during the Assembly’s May meeting in Toronto, Glenn Martin, M.D., of New York completes his year as speaker-elect and becomes Assembly speaker.
In the contest to succeed Anzia as recorder, Theresa Miskimen, M.D., who has represented the New Jersey Psychiatric Association in the Assembly, defeated Ludmilla De Faria, M.D., a representative of the Women’s Caucus of the Assembly and the Minority/Underrepresented Group representative on the Assembly Executive Committee. ■
