Assembly Candidates Announced

The APA Assembly approved the slate of candidates running for speaker-elect and recorder in the 2018 Assembly election to be held next May at APA’s Annual Meeting in New York City.

Vying for speaker-elect next year are C. Deborah Cross, M.D., and Paul O’Leary, M.D. Cross, of Elmsford, N.Y., is the representative of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and O’Leary, of Birmingham, Ala., is the Assembly recorder. (See note below.)

Competing for the post of recorder are Jacob Behrens, M.D., Stephen Brown, M.D., and Seeth Vivek, M.D. Behrens, of Milwaukee, is Area 4 ECP representative; Brown, of Caspar, Wyo., is the representative of the Wyoming Association of Psychiatric Physicians; and Vivek, of Richmond Hill, N.Y., is Area 2 representative.

Note: O’Leary was elected recorder at the Assembly’s November meeting to replace Steve Daviss, M.D. Daviss resigned after being appointed the senior medical advisor in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. ■
