APA Offers Online Courses on Military Psychiatry

Abstract

APA is offering five online courses at no cost to members that are designed for psychiatrists who treat and interact with members of the military, veterans, and their families. The courses were created in collaboration with the Society of Uniformed Service Psychiatrists.

The topics include disaster mental health, assessment of access to weapons, resiliency of military children and families, and suicide in the military. A course on the pathophysiology, treatment, and military aspects of PTSD will be available soon.

If you’d like to honor military service or recognize a colleague or patient for their service, please consider a tax-deductible gift to the APA Foundation in his or her honor. The APA Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and every donation works toward achieving the goal of a mentally healthy nation. ■
