Join With APA to ‘Give Back’ to Meeting’s Host City
In its ninth year, “APA Gives Back” provides an opportunity for APA, its members, and Annual Meeting attendees to support a community organization in the city where the Annual Meeting is held. Support this year’s program by making a donation to Safe Horizon: The Streetwork Project. Safe Horizon is a victim-assistance nonprofit that has been assisting victims of violence, abuse, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes in New York City since 1978.
One of Safe Horizon’s programs is Streetwork, which serves homeless youth and helps them find stability. Through nightly street outreach efforts, the Streetwork team makes over 13,000 contacts with homeless young people each year. A disproportionate number of these young people identify as people of color and/or LGBTQ. Streetwork provides a range of programming and resources that help runaway and homeless youth to reduce their risks and move toward stability and independence.
Since its inception in 2010, “APA Gives Back” has donated $147,763 to local groups where the Annual Meeting has been held.
Contributions may be made through APA’s Annual Meeting registration system. ■
