At this year’s IPS: The Mental Health Services Conference, the APA Foundation (APAF) hosted a special “Friends of the Foundation” reception to thank all the individuals who contributed to APA’s philanthropic arm. It was also an opportunity to build some energy moving forward, said APAF Executive Director Daniel Gillison Jr. (right). With Gillison are (from left) APAF Board members Karinn Glover, M.D., M.P.H., Gabrielle Shapiro, M.D., Lama Bazzi, M.D., and Saul Levin, M.D., M.P.A. Levin, who is chair of the APAF Board of Directors, is also CEO and medical director of APA.

“Compared with APA [at 175 years old], we are a young adult who’s still learning, but we are getting better at spreading the word about our great programs that reach people where they live, learn, work, and worship.” Among these programs are the APA Fellowships (which Levin called “the shining light of the APA.”), and Gillison told the reception audience that the Foundation is looking to add more fellowships to their portfolio.
