Meet the Candidates for APA’s 2024 Election

Abstract

Voting begins on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, and ends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.

There are 15 candidates vying for national and Area office in APA’s 2024 election. At right are their names and photos organized by the office for which they are running.

To help APA members select the candidates they believe are best qualified for office, APA has created a centralized location on its website at psychiatry.org/election for all election and candidate-related information. The site will include a link to a webpage for each candidate that contains the candidate’s photo, biographical statement, and a link to a personal website if available.

In mid-December, all voting members will be emailed a link to the APA Election 2024 Guide to the Candidates. The guide, which includes the candidates’ platforms and biographical statements, will also be emailed as a PDF. Later this month, two-minute videos of the candidates for president-elect, treasurer, and trustee-at-large will be available for viewing.

All voting will be by electronic ballot. Beginning January 3, ballots will be emailed to eligible voting members with a valid email address on file with APA; members may also go to APA’s election website and use their member login information to access their electronic ballot. Paper ballots are available only upon request; requests must be made by Wednesday, January 10.

The deadline for online voting is Wednesday, January 31, at 11:59 p.m. EST., which is also the postmark deadline for paper ballots.

APA members wishing to campaign on behalf of a candidate are encouraged to review a summary of the APA Election Guidelines; the complete guidelines can be accessed at psychiatry.org/election.

Those with comments or questions about the election should email them to [email protected]. ■
