As a practicing psychiatrist for the past 50 years and having seen the pendulum swing back and forth, I thought that Dr. Breyauna Spencer’s article in the October issue, “For the Love of Psychotherapy: A Resident Perspective,” was a breath of fresh air. It is a pleasure to hear from a young psychiatrist who has the wisdom to understand that the individuals we treat are more than their biochemistry. We must find a balance in our work, and that is what I hear Dr. Spencer advocating for. ■
