Ready to celebrate? The annual APA Foundation benefit will be held on Monday, May 6, at New York’s exquisite Cipriani’s on Broadway during APA’s 2024 Annual Meeting. Take time out from scientific sessions to enjoy a night of dinner, dancing, and fun with friends and colleagues while celebrating the APA Foundation’s progress toward achieving its mission of creating a mentally healthy nation for all.

The celebration will center around the successful first year of the Foundation’s Mental Health Care Works campaign, whose goal is to encourage individuals to take the first step toward overall wellness by seeking out mental health care. This multi-year, multimedia public awareness campaign was launched last August and has generated more than 56 million impressions on social media and in public locations. Check out the campaign’s website at mentalhealthcareworks.org.

The campaign connects with viewers through a series of personas who are struggling with common mental health conditions such as generalized anxiety and postpartum depression. New personas will be introduced this year. Attendees at the benefit will receive a sneak peek of the next stage of the campaign. Through your attendance at the APA Foundation’s benefit, you are supporting increased access to mental health care for underresourced groups, many of whom may associate seeking care with fear and shame. You are also helping to strengthen the future of psychiatry through the Foundation’s fellowship programs that are geared toward developing the next generation of psychiatry’s leaders as well as grants and awards programs that connect marginalized groups to needed resources. ■
