Get Yourself, Your Practice Online With Personalized Medem Service

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.36.4.0040a

Medem, the organization created by APA and six other national medical societies to place the physician back in the center of providing health care information to patients, will have a major presence at APA’s annual meeting this year to make it easy for APA members to register for “Your Practice Online.”

Demonstrations

This member benefit allows APA members to create a Web site for their practice that will be part of the Medem network. In addition to registering for their site, members will have the opportunity to see demonstrations of the Site Builder Wizard and browse examples of practice Web sites that have already been built.

All of this will take place at the Medem booth in the APA Resource Center, located in the Exhibit Hall in the New Orleans Convention Center.

Registering for Your Practice Online takes only five minutes. The Medem staff snaps a digital photo and asks a few simple questions.

Upon return home, APA members or one of their staff can build a Web site using the Site Builder Wizard. This is an easy-to-use online application for creating a professional, customized, feature-rich site that will add value to psychiatric practices. Having a Web site saves money and staff time, reduces phone calls, and increases patient satisfaction.

Medem will provide APA members with a storehouse of the most accurate and current patient and clinical information that APA and its partner societies have to offer. Each member then selects the information that is most relevant to his or her practice and patients for display on the member’s Web site. Automated updates ensure the information is always current

New Features

New features to Your Practice Online include Medem’s secure messaging. This service allows members to communicate securely with their patients online in a way that simple encrypted e-mail does not. Because physician and patient identities will be authenticated, physicians and patients can rest assured that patient confidentiality is always protected.

This initiative is another example of APA’s commitment to its members and to innovation and leadership within the physician community.
