I am dismayed by the way I was quoted in the article “Managed Care Experiments With New Procedures” in the March 16 issue.
My distress comes from a substantial alteration of what I said, changing its meaning in a way that distorts my thinking. In the article it is said that I hope that “these latest managed care changes ‘will give providers a stronger voice in dealing with these corporations.’ ”
Instead, what I said to the author—by verbal and written statements—was that I hoped that the Caucus for Psychiatrists Working With Patients Covered By Managed Care would give frontline clinical psychiatrists a stronger voice in dealing with these corporations.
