NYSPA, APA Defeat Oxford Audits

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.39.1.0012c

APA and the New York State Psychiatric Association—working together—successfully defeated a move by Oxford Health Plans in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey to conduct retrospective audits of psychiatric medical records and reclaim funds. “We cannot always guarantee success like the one we just had working with the New York State Psychiatric Association,” said Irvin L. (Sam) Muszynski, director of APA’s Office of Healthcare Systems and Financing, “but we encourage all DBs/SAs to contact us if they encounter these kinds of problems with third-party payers.”
