APIRE Honors Hostetter

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.39.2.0021b

The American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE) honored Abram Hostetter, M.D. (right), last month at APA headquarters in Arlington, Va., for his “inspiration, guidance, and support” as a founding member of APIRE’s Board of Directors. Hostetter has been on the board since APIRE’s creation in 1998 and served as president of the American Psychiatric Foundation when the relationship between APIRE and the foundation was being defined and operationalized. The foundation gave a $700,000 grant to APIRE over five years to examine the barriers that patients experience in trying to access psychiatric services.

Presenting the award to Hostetter were Darrel Regier, M.D., director of APIRE (left); and Herbert Pardes, M.D., president and chair of APIRE.
