Nominations Sought For Fellowship in Disaster Psychiatry

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.40.4.00400051a

APA's Committee on Psychiatric Dimensions of Disasters is soliciting applications for its Disaster Psychiatry Fellowship for members nominated by their district branches. The fellowship includes reimbursement for the advance registration fee for Course 9, “Psychiatric Interventions in Disasters and Public Health Emergencies: Theory to Practice,” which will be held at APA's 2005 annual meeting on Saturday, May 21, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There are eight slots available, which will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, with one nomination being accepted from each district branch. Those selected for the fellowship must register for the course and pay the fee for which they will be reimbursed later.

In view of the Assembly's recommendation that each district branch designate one member to head disaster psychiatry efforts, having a member take this course is an important step.

Nominations must be received by March 15. They should be sent to Erin Dalder-Alpher by mail to Disaster Psychiatry Fellowship, APA, 1000 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 1825, Arlington, Va. 22209; by fax to (703) 907-1087; or by e-mail to .
