Nominations Invited For Weinberg Award

The APA Council on Aging is soliciting nominations for the Jack Weinberg Memorial Award for 2008 in the field of geriatric psychiatry. The deadline for submission has been extended to August 31.

Established in memory of Jack Weinberg, M.D., a geriatric psychiatrist and a past president of APA, this award honors a psychiatrist who has demonstrated special leadership or who has done outstanding work in clinical practice, training, or research into geriatric psychiatry.

Candidates for the Weinberg Award must be psychiatrists who are nominated by a member of APA and whose nomination is supported by two additional letters of endorsement by APA members. The letter of nomination should articulate the special accomplishments in geriatric psychiatry of the nominee. Six copies of the letter along with the nominee's current CV and bibliography should be included.

Nominations will be reviewed by the Council on Aging. The selected individual receive a plaque presented at the APA Convocation and an honorarium in the amount of $500. Current members of the Council on Aging and its components are not eligible for the award.
