New Spurlock Fellow

Akua Asare, M.D., has been selected the 2011 Jeanne Spurlock Congressional Fellow. Asare recently completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. During her residency, she was active in both residency and patient advocacy through the Committee of Interns and Residents Union and the Graduate Medical Education Committee. Asare has a particular interest in health care policy and development of mental health infrastructures on a global level. The term of her Capitol Hill internship is January 2011 through November 2011.
