Assembly Election Candidates

The APA Assembly will hold its annual election next month at its three-day meeting held in conjunction with APA's 2010 annual meeting in New Orleans.

Running to be the next speaker-elect are Ann Marie Sullivan, M.D., of New York, and Khushro Unwalla, M.D., of California. Sullivan is the current Assembly recorder and is senior vice president for the Queens (N.Y.) Health Network and a clinical professor of psychiatry at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. Unwalla, the international medical graduate representative, is vice chair of psychiatry and codirector of residency training at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and holds faculty positions at Loma Linda University and Western University of Health Sciences.

Vying to replace Sullivan as recorder are R. Scott Benson, M.D., of Florida and Jo-Ellyn Ryall, M.D., of Missouri. Benson is the Assembly's Area 5 deputy representative, while Ryall is the Area 4 representative.

Benson is a child, adolescent, and forensic psychiatrist in Pensacola, Fla., and manages a consultation service at the children's hospital. Ryall is in private practice in St. Louis, Mo., and an associate professor of clinical psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis.
