Show Colleagues Your Creativity
APA's annual meeting may be a cognitive event, but not completely: you'll have an opportunity to give your creative and artistic side a chance to surface by joining the APA Art Association and displaying your work in the association's annual exhibit, which is held at APA's annual meeting.

The APA Art Association was founded by the late Norman Schulack in 1969 in Miami. Membership is open to all APA members, their spouses or significant others, and full-time staff members of APA and the Canadian Psychiatric Association.
The exhibit will be held in the Ala Halawai Concourse, Level 3, Hawaii Convention Center Sunday through Tuesday, May 15 to 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, May 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Information on how to submit entries (including an entry form) is posted on APA's Web site at <www.psych.org/MainMenu/EducationCareerDevelopment/Meetings/2011-Annual-Meeting/APAAffiliatedPrograms/APAArtAssociationSchedule.aspx?FT=.pdf>. Art works may be submitted in the following categories: ceramics, fiber, computer art, crafts, graphics, jewelry, poetry, painting mixed, painting oil, painting water-based, black and white or color photography, and sculpture. Up to six entries are permitted.
And for meeting goers who aren't ready to express their inner selves for public perusal, they are invited to attend the exhibit and vote for their favorite works.
Judging will end on Monday, May 16, at 3 p.m. APA President Carol Bernstein, M.D., will award ribbons to the winners at a reception for the artists and meeting registrants on Tuesday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
APA Art Association membership dues are $30, which includes the cost of exhibiting up to two pieces of art; additional pieces are $5 each. Patron dues are $30.
