Katrina Response

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1176/pn.41.18.0031d

I was astounded by the shameful statements in Dr. Pedro Ruiz's “From the President” column in the July 7 issue. He used an“ official” APA platform to voice his opinions, which may suggest to some that they represent our organization's overall views.

Readers should know that many APA members, perhaps most do not support Dr. Ruiz's narrow, vitriolic comments about either federal efforts to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita or current government efforts and positions with regard to race relations.
