Workshop to Give Glimpse Into Future of DSM, Opportunities for Input
The fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) provided modest revisions in the diagnosis and classification of mental disorders. Following its release in May 2013, APA initiated preliminary planning for the development of a model to address iterative updates to DSM-5 and future editions moving forward. The workshop “Future of DSM: An Update from the DSM Steering Committee” will help psychiatrists better understand the future conceptualization of DSM and the process by which forthcoming versions of the manual will be generated. The session will be led by Paul Appelbaum, M.D., chair of the DSM Steering Committee, and will feature presentations from Vice Chair Kenneth Kendler, M.D., and Michael B. First, M.D.
